Grasshopper
Stage 1: The female grasshopper lays eggs in the soil
Stage 2: A nymph comes out of the egg with no wings. It molts 5 times before it reaches adulthood.
Stage 3: It becomes an adult grasshopper with wings.

Butterfly
Stage 1: The butterfly lays an egg on a leaf.
Stage 2: A larva or caterpillar comes out of the egg.
Stage 3: The larva grows into a pupa.
Stage 4: Inside the pupa it becomes a butterfly.
