Advantages
Possible to gather a wide range of people by selecting volunteers with particular requirements for the study

Often gathers an unrepresentative sample as the population being studied must meet certain requirements

Random Sampling
Disadvantages

Often not possible to gather a random sample due to the availability of people in the target population

Stratified Sampling
Involves classifying the population into categories and then choosing a sample, which consists of participants from each category in the same proportions as they are in the population
Advantages
Can be very representative of the population, if done correctly. The whole population would be equally represented
