in the 3rd cholera outbreak 1854, Dr snow set to work to try and prove his findings.
On his map, he plotted each death from cholera with a dot. he was able to see where the disease was concentrated, and this led him to the water pump in broad street
to prove his theory, he removed the handle of the pump, making it unusable, and the water non-accessible. he saw that the number of deaths declined rapidly
it was later discovered that the water supply for the broad street pump was being contaminated by a leaking cesspit. Snow was proved right, but the board of general health did not act on his findings.
