Trobleshooting Process
- Identify the problem
- Establish the theory of portable course
- Test the theory to detemine cause
- Establish a plan of action to resolve the problem and implement the solution
- Verify full system functionality and if applicable, implement preventive measure
- Document findings, actions and outcomes
Data Protection
-Before troubleshooting problems, always follow the necessary precautions to protect data on a computer
- If no backup can be created, ask customer to sign a release form
If unsure that a backup has been done, do not attempt any troubleshooting activities until the following are verified:
- Date of the last backup
- Contents of the backup
- Data integrity of the backup
- Availability of all backup media for data restore
Troubleshooting Motherboards
- First and probably the most common of these rarities are UEFI/BIOS firmware issues.
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) and other electrical issues
- Component failures
- Manufacturing defects and failed motherboard components
Trobleshooting CPUs
- Always check the power first, just in case—the main power connections and the 8 or 4-pin CPU power connection
- Fan is connected and functional
- Check other major components
- Heat sink is connected properly
- CPU is installed properly
Troubleshooting RAM
- Computer will not boot/intermittently shuts down
- BIOS indicates a memory error
- Stop error, aka BSOD or Blue Screen of Death
Troubleshooting Power Supply Issues
- Fan failure
- Fuse failure
- Quick death
- Slow death
Troubleshooting Hard Drives
- BIOS does not “see” the drive
- Windows does not “see” a second drive
- Slow reaction time
- Missing files at startup
- Other missing/corrupted files
- Noisy drive/lockups

Video Troubleshooting
- Connections
- Power cycle the computer, display, and any power protection equipment
- Check for an onboard video setting in the UEFI/BIOS
- Resolution and refresh settings
5.Check the driver
- Check the version of DirectX
- Check the temperature threshold of the video card
- Use software to check and repair stuck or dead pixels
- Calibrate the monitor
- Use a filter on the monitor
- Check for newly installed applications
- Check inside the computer
