        Extremely controlling, with secret police everywhere
        
        Large censorship and isolation from the west
    - - As simple as just taking the bus or just walking to the west side of Berlin
      - Had better oppoertunities and better quality of life
      - In total, 3 million East Germans moved to the West
        
        This Caused a major problem fro Kruschev, as the numbers included important students and people who were searching for better opportunities
        
        Decreased East Germany's capability to develop
