THE CHINESE EMPIRE
Five broad classes: the nobility and the "four occupations." In order of decreasing status, the "four occupations" included the shi (gentry), nong (farmers), gong (craftspeople), and shang (merchants).
Like the other early civilizations, it was along rivers and in river valleys that the first civilization developed in Ancient China.
Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism were the three main philosophies and religions
The Mongol Empire
It was divided into four states: the Mongols, followed by the non-Chinese peoples, and at the bottom of the pyramid the northern and southern Chinese.
Bows were the main weapons of the Mongols.
The Mongol Empire dominated Asia from the Black Sea to the Korean Peninsula.
THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE
The Holy Roman Empire was established as a Catholic Realm.
The latter category included Lorraine, Burgundy, and Lombardy.
Most of northern Italy, Switzerland, the Burgundy region of France, Adriatic Sea coastal territories, and a large section of eastern Europe.
THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE
The upper class was formed by the emperor “under the protection of God” and his family, senior statesmen, high-ranking officials and local aristocracy
A central feature of Byzantine culture was Orthodox Christianity.
Covered much of the land surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, including what is now Italy, Greece, and Turkey along with portions of North Africa and the Middle East.

The Mongols began a wave of conquests that extended their rule to a vast territory, from Eastern Europe to the Pacific Ocean, and from Siberia to Mesopotamia, India and Indochina.
Division Society:
The Mongols had a tribal and nomadic organization. For this reason, they preferred and respected the nomadic peoples they conquered.
