FUTURE TENSES
Future Simple
FORM:
S + will / won't + V (inf.)
USE:
General predictions about the future.
To express a decision made at the time of speaking.
To make promises, offers or to give warnings.
Ex:
I'll eat pizza at the restaurant.
Can also use:
ever, never, just, only, still (put the adverb between the will and the infinitive).
Ex:
They will never visit a museum.
Future with the present simple
FORM:
S+ present simple of the verb + time expression
USE:
Used to describe a future timetabled event.
Ex:
The train arrives at 6.30 in the morning.
Be going to
FORM:
S + be (am / are / is) going to + V (inf.)
USE:
General plans and intentions.
Predictions based on present evidence.
Ex:
She is going to sing a song.
Can also use:
never, ever, just, only, still (put the adverb before be going to).
Ex:
I'm never going to play football.
Future Perfect
FORM:
S + will + have +V (past participle)
USE:
To describe an action that will have been completed or not at a certain time in the future.
We use
by
before a time expression to explain when the specific moment will be.
Ex:
She will have made dinner by nine o'clock.
Future Continuous
FORM:
S + will be + present participle ( verb + ing)
USE:
Will be in progress a specific time in the future.
Will continue over a specific period of time in the future.
Ex
: We will be running a marathon.
Future with the present continuous
FORM:
S + present continuous of the verb "to be" + verb in the -ing form + time expression
USE:
used to discuss fixed arrangements and definite plans in the future.
Ex:
I'm meeting Jane at 8 o'clock on Saturday.
