Physical Characteristics
Due to parrots having feathers and not fur they do not need grooming from humans but instead will groom themselves by using their beaks to dig into their feathers.
Parrots do indeed shed but instead of shedding it is called molting. This is when some of their feathers are either plucked by the animals themselves or fall off the animal's body.
Since parrots are birds they have feathers instead of fur like other animals like cats and dogs. Their feathers are dry and brittle and have a folide to connect the feather to the body of the bird or the wing.
Parrots are exotic animals and come in several varying colors including blue, green, red, black, white, yellow, orange, and many other colors!
Routine Care
Parrots need a clean cage to be able to live in without germs decreasing any infections of illnesses.

Toys are great for parrots as they provide a form of distraction to keep their minds busy and active.
They also need fresh water, just like all animals in order to function properly and live.
Medical Considerations

There are many different ailments associated with parrots however the main ailment is aspergillosis. This is an infection affecting the lungs of the parrot that comes from mold build up.

Interesting Facts
Not only is it impressive that parrots can mimic humans but they are the only animal that can mimic humans speech.
There are many different breeds of parrots and actually one that can not fly which is called the Kakapo which is a parrot that can not fly.
Unlike most animals whose goal in life is to mate and reproduce parrots sometimes choose not to mate and it is not an uncommon action.

There are about 350 different breeds of parrots still alive today. However, there there many more breeds but sadly many have become extinct for many reasons like climate change.
