Using Laws of Universal Gravitation (7.2)
The speed and period of satellite orbiting earth depends on the earth's mass.
Finding the speed: V = √Gm / r
Finding the period: T = 2𝝅√r³ / Gm
Michael Faraday
Any object with a mass is surrounded by a gravitational field and it only depends on the planet's mass.
g = Gm / r²
is inversely related to r² and directly related to the mass.
Types of Masses:
Inertial Mass
Is a measure of an object's resistance to forces.
m = f / a
Principle of Equivalence
Both inertial and gravitational masses are equal.
Gravitational Mass
Is a measure to the object's response to gravitational force
m = Fg x r² / Gm
Weightlessness
At very high altitudes above 150km, air resistance is neglected, which decreases the gravitational field. Therefore, you feel weightless, but not massless.
Einstein's Theory of Relativity
Gravity is not a force, but it's effect of space.
Space appears to be carved near to the massive objects, but away its flat.
Black Holes:
Massive and dense objects that absorbs light and never reflect it back.
