responses of muscular system - Coggle Diagram
responses of muscular system
increase blood supply
increase the rate at which muscles produce and release energy so that movement can take place
greater demand for oxygen and glucose in muscles - met by increase in blood
vasodilation
increased muscles temperature
muscles need energy from fuels such as fats and carbs
carbs and fat broken down using chemical reactions that produce heat as a by product
increase muscle pliability
warming of the muscles allows them to be more flexible and pliable
improve joint flexibility and increase range of movement due to muscles being able to stretch further
lactate
build up of lactic acid which is waste product of anaerobic excercise
result in rapid fatigue and impede muscular contractions if not removed quickly
microtears
these tears cause swelling in muscle tissue which causes pressure on nerve endings and pain
rest and protein is used to repair muscle tissue when it has micro tears
DOMS
delayed onset muscle soreness
pain felt in muslces 24-48 hours after strenous excercise
soreness usually occurs at least a day after and can last 3 days
caused by micro tears
eccentric contraction
