Types of Sampling Method
Cluster Sample: A sample where your population is divided into groups based on close proximity and then a random sample of clusters are chosen. Every entity in randomly selected clusters makes up your sample
Systematic Sample: Is a sample where the population is in some kind of order and every 'n' th entity is selected starting at a random spot
Stratified Random Sample: A sample where first the population is divided into groups based on a shared characteristics(strata) and then an SRS from each strata is taken to complete your sample
Convenience Sample:A sample that is acquired by selecting those that are easy to reach "lazy method"
Produces Convenience Bias.
Only those easy to reach get selected
Simple Random Sample(SRS): A sample where every group of a given size has an equal chance of being chosen
Voluntary Response Sample: A sample that is obtained by those who "self-selected" they choose to participate.
Produces voluntary response bias
Only those that feel strongly about the topic tend to participate.
Types of Bias
Non-Response Bias: Occurs when selected participants in a study refuse to take part/answer questions.
Response Bias: Occurs when participants lie when responding to questions.
This usually occurs when participants are uncomfortable with the questions.
Undercoverage: Occurs when a portion of the population is not represented in the sample due to biased sampling techniques.
Wording Bias: Occurs when questions posed to participants are worded in such a way as to lead the person towards a certain responses "loaded questions".
Voluntary Response Bias: Occurs when participants choose if they want to be part of the sample study
