Should employees have the choice to work from home? (Abrar Abdalla 109)
WFH will be more convenient for those who have kids and live in suburb areas.
For these people the process of commuting is pretty painful. Thus, remote working is rather pleasant for them.
This choice is not the best for employees who are single or empty nesters.
Plenty of employees who have experienced working for home when COVID-19 took over expressed their feelings by saying that they were excluded. This was said by coworkers who were not single or living away from their loved ones, and for a certain the experience was more difficult for those who are young and empty nesters.
Less human interactions
It will cause a diversity crisis.
Female employees tend to prefer remote working due to circumstances they live (Such as having kids). However, on the other side it was found that young single men tend to prefer going physically to the working place. Thus, this will create an uneven ratio and will eventually cause a diversity crisis.
Employees will have the opportunity to custom their working place
Employees will have the ability to custom their working area. Since they have a well-rounded knowledge about their homes, they can easily create a working environment that catalyzes their productivity.
Less time commuting
Commuting is what consumes employee's energy, and it reduces their desire to work and achieve more.
Employees will save a plenty amount of money
Less money will be spent on Transporation or gas
Improves work-life balance
This will fulfill employee's satisfaction. Since, they will have the ability to schedule and manage, with no sweat, their interactions with friends as well as meetings with collogues. Thia way they are achieving a well balance between their working and personal lives.
Workers will work for longer periods due to the satisfaction remote working will bring to them.
Remote working will cause a drop in promotion rate.
Promotion rate is: An HR meter that measures the percentage of employees promoted during a given timeframe.
Talented individuals will be attracted from all around the world
And if we assume that some of these individuals have anxiety or other social disorders by working from home their brains will not be triggered or distracted by their mental status and that will certainly improve their productivity.
