- - - - For an instance, Attachment Theory, formulated by John Bowlby in the mid-20th century. This theory proposed that early childhood experiences with caregivers could significantly influence an individual's emotional and social development. However, the adoption of the new idea faced resistance within the field of psychology, hence it took almost 20 years from 1969 to 1990.
      - This is because the Attachment Theory was met with skepticism and, in some cases, rejected by psychologists. The skepticism arose because the new theory opposed the fundamental premises of psychoanalysis (Psychoanalysis is a type of treatment based on the theory that our present is shaped by our past). Experts argued that the evidence supporting Attachment Theory was insufficient and that the theory's emphasis on early caregiver-child relationships was too simplistic to explain the complexity of human behavior and development.
      - Over the years, extensive research and studies provided substantial evidence in favor of Bowlby's claims. Research demonstrated that the quality of early attachments did, indeed, influence later emotional and social development. As the evidence grew, psychologists became increasingly open to the idea that Attachment Theory was a valid and valuable perspective within the field of psychology.
        It also serves as a reminder that fresh ideas, while often facing challenges, have the potential to reshape our understanding and lead to positive changes when supported by intellectual diversity, empirical validation, patience, and persistence. As such, fostering an environment that encourages the exploration and acceptance of innovative concepts can be crucial for advancing knowledge and addressing complex issues in the Human Sciences and other fields.
  - - - it is a theory developed by economist Richard Thaler and legal scholar Cass Sunstein in 2008. They introduced the concept of "nudging" in their book titled "Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness". Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein posited that human behaviour could be influenced without coercion through the use of small, carefully designed prompts that they called nudges
      - The theory was proven to be adopted not long after it was established. This can be seen when in 2010, for instance, David Cameron, ex Prime Minister of United Kingdom created a behavioural insights team in the Cabinet Office to change how his government communicated its policies. That ‘nudge unit’ team is credited with positive outcomes such as the shift to an opt-out model for workplace pension scheme enrolment, massively increasing the number of workers saving towards retirement.
      - In another perspective, this theory have inspired many other researchers as it has paved the way for a new field in economics which we call behavioural economics. From here, the positive outcome is that it benefits the knowledge production in the economic field.
      - ELABORATION: The nudge theory has change the human sciences field when they founded a new way or factor that could influence human's decision making whereby previously, policy makers had to use force to influence public's decision making but after this new theory was published, policy makers used a gentler/softer (idk the exact word) way in their policies to gain support of others.
