Chapter 2
Speed
Average speed formula: total distance/total time
Uniform speed
Where the change in distance travelled is the same for every unit of time, the object has a uniform speed
Average velocity formula: total displacement/total time
Uniform acceleration
Where the change in velocity for every unit of time is the same, the object has uniform acceleration
Def: Uniform acceleration is the constant rate of change of velocity
Non-uniform acceleration
Where the change in velocity for every unit of time is not the same
Distance time-graphs
Gradient-gives us the speed of an object
Speed-time graphs
Car at rest
Straight line(Horizontal)
Uniform speed
Constant gradient(Constant speed)
Non uniform speed
Increasing gradient(Increasing speed)
Decreasing gradient(Decreasing speed)
Gradient - gives us the acceleration of the object
Car at rest
Straight line on x-axis(Horizontal)
Uniform speed
Gradient is zero
Uniform acceleration
Gradient is constant
Uniform deceleration
Negative constant gradient
non-uniform acceleration
Increasing gradient
Non uniform deceleration
Decreasing gradient
Area - under the graph give us the distance
Accelaration of free fall is 10m/s^2
