SATELLITES
An artificial body placed in orbit round the earth or moon or another planet in order to collect information or for communication.
. A satellite works by receiving radio signals sent from the Earth and resending the radio signals back down to the Earth.
WORKING OF TYPES OF SATELLITES
A communication satellite is an artificial satellite that transmits the signal via a transponder by creating a channel between the transmitter and the receiver at different Earth locations.
Satellite Navigation is based on a global network of satellites that transmit radio signals from medium earth orbit.
A weather satellite record or transmit images of the entire hemisphere below continuously with their visible-light and infrared sensors.
An astronomy satellite is basically a really big telescope floating in space. Because it is in orbit above the Earth, the satellite's vision is not clouded by the gases that make up the Earth's atmosphere, and its infrared imaging equipment is not confused by the heat of the Earth.
Satellite-based EO relies on the use of satellite-mounted payloads to gather imaging data about the Earth's characteristics. The images are then processed and analysed in order to extract different types of information that can serve a very wide range of applications and industries.
APPLICATION OF TYPES OF SATELLITES
While primarily used to detect the development and movement of storm systems and other cloud patterns,
Telephone, radio, television, internet, and military applications make use of satellite communications.
they can be used to make star maps. they can be used to study mysterious phenomena such as black holes and quasars. they can be used to take pictures of the planets in the solar system.
The data from these satellites are used for several applications covering agriculture, water resources, urban planning, rural development, mineral prospecting, environment, forestry, ocean resources and disaster management.
NAVIGATION SATELLITES. Artificial satellites can provide the basis for all-weather, long-term navigation systems to determine with accuracy geodetic position, speed, and direction of a surface vehicle or aircraft, north reference, and vertical reference.
