Osteoporosis: Osteoporosis is a group of diseases in which bone resorption exceeds deposit. With osteoporosis, the matrix remains normal but the bone mass declines. Some risk factors for women of osteoporosis are whether or not they are postmenopausal. Men are less likely to develop osteoporosis due to protection from testosterone. Some other risk factors for osteoporosis are insufficient exercise to stress bones, poor diet, smoking, genetics, hormone related conditions, or consumption of alcohol or certain medications.
