Energy Transformation- conversion of one form of energy to another
When energy is transferred it doesn't have to change

Law of Conservation of Energy- energy can be transformed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed
Roller coasters transform energy from gravitational potional energy to kinetic energy
Plants take the radiant energy from the sun and change it into chemical energy
Fossil fuels come from plants that died and got buried under sediment
Lots of energy sources turn into electric energy by electric energy plants
Energy and Work
Work- transfer of energy that occurs when a force makes an object move in the direction of the force while the force acts upon the object
You only do work when an object moves in the direction of the force
Work depends on the amount of force applied to an object
If you throw something in the air you are not doing work because you are no longer applying force
Work= force x distance
A newton-meter is the result of work=fxd because it has newtons+meters and a newton-meter= a joule
Energy and Heat
Race cars burn rubber while raceing
Kinetic energy transforms into thermal energy when something burns rubber
Heat is when thermal energy from a higher temperature goes to a lower temperature area
