In more recent years, Corporate crime and White collar crimes have had a stark increase, especially over the 2021 - 2022, as in those years, the overall growth of fraud related crimes grew by 25% in 2022 in comparison to 2021, amounting to 4.5 million crimes in 2022 alone, yet that is only fraud related crimes. As a result, it is estimated that roughly £140 billion was lost to fraud in the private sector alone, far outweighing the public sector accounting for £40 billion, and individuals at around £10 billion, showing how the main White Collar Crime and corporate crime is so heavily intertwined
Whilst Fraud is one of the highest committed corporate crime, it is also has a very low reporting rate (believed 90% of white collar crime goes unreported), whilst a high conviction rate of roughly 84%, as found by the CPS in regards to serious cases, with most sentences lasting up to 5 years.
