Types of STI's
Gonorrhea: is a bacterial STI. it affects both men and women and is known for causing symptoms like pain during urination, genital discharge, and abdominal pain. It is treated with antibiotics.
Herpes: Is a viral STI caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Once infected the virus remains in the body for life, causing recurrent breakouts. Antiviral medications can help manage symptoms however there is no cure.
HIV (AIDS): HIV is a virus that attacks the body;s immune system. it is primarily transmitted through sexual contact, sharing needles, and from mother to child during childbirth. There are therapies to manage HIV however there is no cure.
Chlamydia: Common bacterial STI. Often presents with mild or no symptoms, making it easy to go undetected. when symptoms do occur, they may include pain during urination, unusual discharge and abdominal pain. it is typically treated with antibiotics.
Gentital warts: are caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus. They appear as lumps on the genital and anal areas. Vaccines are available to prevent most dangerous HPV strains and treatments can be used to remove the warts.
