The hundred years war

The hundred year war was a war between the French and the British

Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc was a French girl that had visions and voices telling her to get the English out of France and give the true king, Charles VII, his throne

The Longbow changes warfare

The war started because Edward III claimed he was the true ruler to the french crown

The longbow was cheap, easy to cary, and deadly. It was powerful enough to penetrate armor, thus reducing the impact of mounted calvary.

The war lasted from 1337 to 1453

She led the French army to fight at a fort city against the English. Because of her, Charles became king

Bowmen could fire so fast the longbow as been called the "machine gun of the middle ages"

The war ended in a french victory

Why did Edward III think he had claim to the french thrown

The longbow was as tall as a man, or taller. A six foot tall man might have a bow up to 6 1/2 feet tall.

In the main concept of the hundred year war is conquest because King Edward the III wanted to take over the french

After that, she was captured, accused of being a witch because she claimed to hear voices, and then, burned at stake

English archers usually carried a case with extra bowstrings and a sheaf of 24 arrows. The arrows were about 27 inches long and balanced in flight by feathers.

The arrows were absolutely fatal when shot within 100 yards. The average archer could fire 12 to 15 arrows per minute at hit a man at 200 yards away.
