The poems are also suspected to be rewritten by multiple authors before the final copy

Rhapsode means stiching together
The poets used mnemonic devices such as the scenery or lists of characters
Is a sequel to the Iliad
A story about the trojan war
After the trojan war he is trapped on an island by Poseidon for blinding his son( a cyclops)
The odyssey begins in medias res(in the midst of things)
The main theme is to not incur the wrath of the gods
The pantheon is a combination of divine power and the insecurity of mankind
They get jealous and have grudges
For humans they have a hubris
A pride in believing that they are superior to the gods
Their fear of the gods was so strong a practice called xenia was created
Xenia is a practice where you welcome a stranger in your house with generosity. As they could be a god in disguise
Xenia has a significant role in the odyssey
Odysseus was a constant guest
While his wife was a constant host
