THE HUMAN BODY
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Function: The circulatory system, which is made up of the heart and blood vessels, supports the respiratory system by bringing blood to and from the lungs. The circulatory system helps transport nutrients and oxygen from the lungs to tissues and organs throughout the body
NERVOUS SYSTEM
Function: The nervous system transmits signals between the brain and the rest of the body, including internal organs. In this way, nervous system activity controls the ability to move, breathe, see, think, and more.
Components: Central Nervous System (CNS): Includes the brain and spinal cord. It is the information processing center and controls bodily functions.
Peripheral Nervous System (PNS): Includes all the nerves that extend from the CNS to the rest of the body. The PNS is divided into the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Characteristics: it is a set of organs and structures that play a fundamental role in the digestion and absorption of food.
Components
It includes a number of organs, such as the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Function:
Break down food into simpler substances so the body can absorb essential nutrients, such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Characteristics: it is a set of organs and structures that allow oxygen to enter the body and eliminate carbon dioxide, a waste product of metabolism.
Components: The lungs, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli.
Function: The respiratory system fulfills two main functions: ventilation and gas exchange
.
MUSCULAR SYSTEM
Characteristics: it is a fundamental component of the locomotor system of humans and other animals
Function: allow body movement. Muscles contract and relax to generate force and movement in the joints
.
SKELETAL SYSTEM
Characteristics: It is a fundamental part of the human body that performs several functions essential for structure and movement.
Components: It is composed mainly of bones and cartilage.
Function: support, protection:
movement, storage of minerals, production of blood cells.
URINARY SYSTEM
Characteristics: A set of organs and structures that play a fundamental role in eliminating waste and regulating water and electrolyte levels in the body.
Components: Kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, ect.
Function: Blood filtration, regulation of water and electrolyte balance, regulation of blood pressure, etc.
REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Characteristics: It is a set of organs and structures in the human body (and in most living beings) responsible for sexual reproduction.
Components: Testicles (male): They produce sperm and male sex hormones such as testosterone.
Ovaries (female): Produce eggs and female sex hormones such as estrogen and progesterone
.
Function: Its main function is the production of gametes (sex cells), fertilization (union of a sperm and an egg) and the development of the embryo and fetus in the case of females
.
