Types of Assessments
Summative
Summative Assessments are typically larger tests that test a students full knowledge on the taught subject

Essay: A way to test a students ability to explain what they have learned instead of just demonstrating
Diagnostic
Diagnostic Assessments are assessments given to see the strengths and weaknesses of the students being examined.
Surveys: These are a way to directly ask your students about how they feel on something without having the stress of it being for a grade
Informal Debates: Students are given a chance to argue about what they believe in in a way that easily demonstrates their familiarity with the topic, and their misconceptions.
Interim/Benchmark
Interim/Benchmark Assessments help with showing if students are prepared for future testing opportunities.
District Assessments: These are tests given out a few times a school year to gauge where students are on what they have learned so far.
Weekly Testing: A weekly test gives a similar set of feedback on progression but would be lower stakes.
Performance
Instead of having to demonstrate knowledge via questioning, performance Assessments give students the chance to show knowledge by completing a task.
Presentation: Students will be tasked with providing information in a set of slides they will present to their class
Fake Documentary: By using technology and video recording students will be able to show mastery of a topic by making an enjoyable and informative video on a given topic
Formative
Formative Assessments are focused around gathering information from your students to then help you as a teacher craft better lessons
One-Minute Write-Up: Students are giving a small selection of questions and a small amount of time to answer them. This will help show how much they can recall without being able to use notes.
Venn Diagram: Students will have to fill in a chart comparing and contrasting different Ideas, This shows how well the students can make comparisons about the lesson.
