Interim/Benchmark
"A benchmark assessment is an evaluation of student learning progress, used to determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments."
"An interim assessment is a form of assessment that educators use to [either] evaluate where students are in their learning progress and to determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments, such as standardized tests or end-of-course exams."
Example 1: An example of a benchmark assessment would be a weekly multiplication test because it can measure the student's growth and whether or not they are retaining information in order to exceed in the lesson throughout the unit.
Example 2: An example of an interim assessment could be an end-of-unit test because they were applied to instruction and student understanding.
Summative
