Summative
Definition: method of evaluation performed at the end of a unit that allows a teacher to measure a student's understanding, typically against standardized criteria.

Diagnostic
Definition: tool teachers can use to collect information about a student's strengths and weaknesses in a skill area
Mind Map: a way of linking key concepts using images, lines, and links. A central concept is linked via lines to other concepts which in turn are linked with other associated ideas

Formative
Definition: Process of gathering evidence of student learning through low-stakes assessment. Formative assessment provides feedback and information during the instructional process, while learning is taking place, and while learning is occurring.
Padlet: Provides students with a place to share what they know about a topic as well as what questions they still have.
Two facts and a fib: Kids write down two facts about the day's subject and one fib. They trade with another student to see if they can guess the incorrect fact before turning them in.
Performance
Definition: A performance assessment involves applying and showing skills and knowledge through various performance tasks.hese assessments measure how well a student can apply the knowledge they've learned, not if they can recall the knowledge.
Science Experiment: Students design and conduct an experiment to understand a scientific concept, then present their findings and conclusions
Portfolio Creation: Art students will compile a portfolio showcasing their use of different techniques and styles
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: To help educators or administrators track students' academic trajectory toward long-term goals. Depending on the timing of assessment feedback, this may be used more to inform instruction or to evaluate the quality of the learning environment
