The cause of allergic rhinitis depends on how sensitive the patient is to the allergen. There are individuals who have sensitivity to more than one allergen and perennial allergic rhinitis with seasonal exacerbations. Based on the type of allergen, the causes of allergic rhinitis are divided into two, namely specific causes and non-specific causes. Specific causes are mostly inhalant allergens, the most commonly found allergens, usually divided into 2 types based on their ability to survive in the environment, namely perennial and seasonal. Perennial allergens are allergens that occur throughout the year and are difficult to avoid, for example house dust, house dust mites, animal skin flakes, mold, and cockroaches. While seasonal allergens are allergens that arise during certain seasons only, for example pollen of plants, trees and weeds. Non-specific causes include climate, hormonal, psychological, infection, and irritation (Indah et al., 2023)
