Nephrititic Syndrome
PSGN
immune complex formation, hypocomplementemia, occurs commonly in kids after strep infections (1-2 weeks after)
HP features: enlarged hypercellular glomeruli, Subendothelial, granular IF and subepithelial humps
IgA nephropathy

can present with recurrent hematuria, which occurs days post infection
can occur with Henoch-Schonlein purpura which is extra-renal involvement, palpable purpura on butt and legs

classic traid: ocular disturbances, hearing loss, hematuria

Nephrotic Syndrome
minimal change disease
effacement of foot processes, loss of anion charge, triggered by cytokines

can be triggered by infection, common in children
favorable prognosis, responds well to steroids

Membranous Nephropathy

secondary causes include tumor, hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis
most common cause of nephrotic disease in adults, some develop ESRD from it
