Formative
Definition: A formative assessment is a way for the teacher to see feedback from the students on the assignment they would be doing, so the teacher could use it to adjust instruction. An informal assessment.
Exit tickets: This gives the students a chance at the end of class to write down what they had learned for the day.
Traffic Lights: Have the students pick one of the 3 colors to corallite with the students understanding of the concept.
Summative
Project: Gives the students a chance to show their own knowledge through creativity. The students would be graded on their knowledge of the subject.
Mid Terms: To test the students knowledge, about what they had learned so far in the 9 weeks.
Definition: Summative assessments are used at the end of the unit to evaluate what the student learned. Usually of high grade value.
Interim/ Benchmark
Definition: Used to see where the students are in their learning, and to determine if the students are on track.
Standardize testing: An assessment given to the students at the end of the year to test their knowledge that they had learned and achieved in their grade level.
District Assessments: Tests that the district gives to the students at the end of every 9 weeks to test what the students have learned.
Diagnostic
Anticipation Guide: The student is able to read a few questions and rate weather they agree or disagree with them before reading an article. After reading the article the student is able to read those answers again and make a more sound argument.
Quick write: The students can be shown a prompt of what they will be learning and the students will answer it to the best of their ability.
Definition: Used as a pre assessments to determine the students strengths and weaknesses. This helps the teacher determine the path of instruction they should take in order for their students to be successful.
