Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are used to monitor student learning and provide ongoing feedback that teachers can use to adjust instruction. Formative assessments are low stakes.
Exit Ticket: Students will complete an Exit Ticket before leaving class containing two problems over solving multi step equations.
Lesson Quiz: Students will take a quiz over proportional relationships before moving on to non-proportional relationships.
Interim/Benchmark
Defintion: Interim/Benchmark assessments are administered to students throughout the school year to monitor growth and achievement in specific standards.
Edify: Computerized test administered to students throughout the school year to monitor growth in specific units.
STAAR: Texas standardized test administered to students to assess knowledge learned and grade level academic standards.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate students learning at the end of a unit and measure understanding. Summative assessments are usually high stake.
Midterm/Final Exam: Assessments given to students to assess student knowledge over a period of time.

Diagnostic
Definition: Diagnostic assessments are a tool used by teachers to identify specific strengths and weaknesses a student possesses in a skill area.
Survey: A survey is a great tool to use to ask students about their prior knowledge before introducing a new unit.
KWL Chart: Students complete a KWL chart to show what they know, what they want to know, and what they learned.
Performance
Definition: A performance assessment involves applying and showing skills to perform a task/activity rather than a test or answering questions.
Poster Anchor Chart: Students will create an anchor chart to showcase their knowledge of proportional vs non proportional relationships.
