Definition: Purpose is to monitor student progress with low-risk (not graded). It can be graded but it is usually an assessment on how students are doing while learning is still occurring. This is so students can correct any misconceptions, and the teacher can adjust instruction as needed.
Interim/ Benchmark
Example 1: CFA testing (a Lubbock ISD, checkpoint test given throughout a unit to check where students are at).
Example 2: MAP testing (an online test students take for teachers to determine students knowledge level in that subject to compare to the national average of other students In that grade level).
