Summative

Definition: Evaluate student learning at the end of a unit and compare it to past benchmarks.

Diagnostic

Definition: A set of questions that evaluates current knowledge or current views on topics studied.

Benchmark

Definition: A test given at different times throughout the year to measure students skills and knowledge.

IXL: Online tests that show student growth in Science, Math, and Reading, etc.

Formative

Performance

Definition: Students must demonstrate what they know and are able to do so through open-ended tasks.

Definition: Monitor student learning to provide feedback during instruction to improve teaching.

Kahoot: Students participate in a competition, answering questions from the lesson.

Exit Ticket: Students answer a few questions on a post-it about what they learned from that lesson so the teacher can get an idea on how well the students understood the lesson.

STAAR: Texas standardized assessment given to students to show their growth with the grade level material.

Essay: A written assessment that is used in to determine a students growth after a unit

Mixture Sort: Students will take turns coming up to the smart board and putting pictures of mixtures and solutions into the correct categories.

DILQ: At the end of a lesson, students write what they did, what was interesting, what they learned, and any questions they still have.

KWL: Before a lesson, students write what they know, what they want to know, and what they learned.

Final Exam: Test given to students to assess their knowledge and growth over a semester.

Separate Mixture: Students will group up and receive a bag with items from around the classroom. They will separate the mixture into different piles.
