Legislations, procedures, policies
When preparing to work within Health and Social Care, it is important that you are aware of the relevant laws regarding HSC.
- The Health and Safety at work Act 1974; states that all professionals must ensure their service user is safe at all times by creating a good environment. Moreover the safety and wellbeing on other employees is also looked after.
- The Care Act (2014); sets out the rules on what care and support should be provided to adults with specific care needs.
- Mental Capacity Act 2005; this protects vulnerable people with decision making however they are able to remain dependent to an extent.
- working in different settings will allow you as a professional to attain various skills and knowledge
Important Documents
When preparing for work, you will be required to provide certain documents to prove your identity and that you have the right to work in the UK.
- DBS cerificate (enhanced or standard)
- proof of identity; passport, letter from HMRC
