Reinforcement schedules
Variable Interval

Fixed Interval
schedule reinforces behavior after an unpredictable amount of time has passed since the last reinforcement, Scappled, (receiving check)
Variable Ratio
schedule reinforces behavior after an unpredictable number of responses. This schedule produces high and steady response rates, as seen in gambling or slot machines
Fixed Ratio
schedule reinforces behavior after a certain number of responses (e.g., giving a reward every 5th response).
Punishment
-
-
Intervention
Response cost(Removing a specific reinforcer temporarily or permanently) EX: Lose 15 min of the video game of a child's aggressive behavior.
-
Overcorrection (Restitution, Positive practice) EX: Angry child knocks chairs in class.
Extinction(withholding reinforcement from behavior has been being reinforced) EX: Stop paying attention to a child whining. Must be consistent
Reinforcement
-
Positive Reinforcement
Adding something to increase the likely behavior (Giving stickers to student to finish their homework)
Intervention
Chaining(Step by step teaching) Final target behavior is important) EX: Teaching child to brush teeth
Premack Principle(using preferred behavior as reinforcement for less preferred behavior) EX: Video game & homework
Shaping(reinforce with praise>imitate), EX: Autism, Vocalization)
