Common Nouns: Refer to general, non-specific people, places, things, or concepts (e.g., "dog," "city," "love").
Proper Nouns: Refer to specific, unique entities and begin with capital letters (e.g., "John," "Paris," "Coca-Cola").

Definition: Nouns are words that represent people, places, things, or ideas. They serve as the subject or object of a sentence.
Gender
:
Some languages assign gender to nouns (e.g., masculine, feminine, neuter).
In English, gender distinctions are minimal (e.g., "actor" and "actress").
Case (in languages with cases):
Some languages have different cases for nouns, affecting their grammatical function within a sentence.
Number
Nouns can be singular (referring to one) or plural (referring to more than one).
Rules for forming plurals vary (e.g., add -s, -es, change the word entirely).
Function in a Sentence:
Nouns can be subjects, objects (direct or indirect), or complements.
Subject: Performs the action in a sentence (e.g., "The cat chased the mouse.").
Object: Receives the action (e.g., "She read a book.").
Complement: Completes the meaning of the sentence (e.g., "He is a teacher." - "teacher" is a complement).
Possession
Nouns can show possession through the use of apostrophes (e.g., "John's car").
Determiners:
Nouns are often preceded by determiners like articles (e.g., "a," "an," "the"), demonstratives (e.g., "this," "those"), or possessives (e.g., "my," "his").
Derivatives
Compound Nouns: Combinations of two or more words to create a new noun.
