This article talks about how as the 2023 legislative session begins in the US, a total of 124 bills have been introduced across the country, aiming to restrict LGBTQ+ rights. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is actively opposing these bills and has developed an online dashboard to track/categorize these bills based on their focus. This provides a resource for advocates, organizers, and allies to take action against what is being introduced. These bills target LGBTQ+ people (particularly transgender individuals) in several vital areas which include health care access, schools and education, free speech and expression, accurate IDs, weakening civil rights laws, public accommodations, etc. Last year, a record-breaking 278 bills were tracked, with 20 becoming law, which significantly impacted transgender youth rights. The ACLU remains committed to defending LGBTQ rights and inclusivity against such legislative threats.
