Cell and Microscope
The Cell
-
-
-
Multicellular organisms, such as human beings, are made of many cells
Organelle - a structure found within a cell that has a specific job it performs to keep cells functioning properly
-

-
Microscope
both the eyepiece lens magnify objects
Total magnification =
Eyepiece lens magnification X objective lens magnification
Parts of a Microscope
Eyepiece Lens - the lense nearest to ur eye. If it is marked 'x10' it makes the object 10 times larger(magnifies object by 10)
Focus Knobs - the course focus knob is used to see the image clearly at low magnification
the fine focus knob is used for delicate focusing at high power
Objective Lens - each objective lens nas a different magnification. The total magnification is found by multiplying the powers of the eyepiece + objective lenses being used
power of eyepiece X power of objective lens = total magnification
-
Stage - used to support the microscope slide. It has a hole in the centre to allow light to pass through
-
Mirror - the mirror is used to reflect light from a lamp up through the object. Some microscopes a lamp instead of a mirror
