Formative
Definition: A formative assessment is to help monitor how students are doing. This type of assessment helps teachers give feedback to students. Feed back helps students improve. (Carnegie)
Quiz: Students takes a quiz online, and when they get answers wrong, it will have an explanation on why it is wrong.
One Minute Paper: Students will write on a piece of paper for one minute over what they learned about the Civil Rights Movement.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: These tests are administered throughout the year. These tests help measure students' success and see if they need help.
SAT: This is administered to students trying to go to college. When it is graded, it will show what the students need to work on.
TSI Assessment: This test is administered to students yearly. It can be tested for college credit. Some colleges require students to take this test before entering college.
Summative
Definition: These assessments are given at the end of a unit. This test evaluates student learning by incorporating everything they have learned in the unit. (Carnegie)
Final Exam: This is an exam over the last unit students learned or over what they have learned the entire school year.
Project: This is can be over a certain topic and students can make a Poster-board, PowerPoint Presentation, etc.
Performance
Definition: Performance Assessments are shown through student application. Students show what they know rather than answering test questions.
Science Lab is a Performance Assessment. Students show what goes on in their experiment through documentation.
An essay is a Performance Assessment. Students will write what they know about a topic or subject through an Essay.
Diagnostic

3-2-1: Students can write three things they know about a subject. Two things that they can study more about the subject. One question they have over the subject.
Exit Ticket: Think it Up Exit Ticket. Students will write on a sticky talking one thing that they are not understanding about the subject they are learning about.
