Ernest Rutherford was a brilliant scientist known for his work in nuclear physics. Born in New Zealand in 1871, he conducted the famous gold foil experiment, discovering the atomic nucleus. His model of the atom present electrons orbiting a central nucleus, revolutionizing our understanding of atomic structure. Rutherford's research on radioactivity and disintegration of elements earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908.
