GLOBAL WARMING
Definition
Global warming is the rising average temperature of the planet which produces shifts in climate patterns.
PRODUCES
CLIMATE CHANGE
-
CAUSES
-
Factor 2-Agriculture
Different pesticides are used in agriculture and enormous amounts of trees are cut down (deforestation) for cattle (livestock)
Factor 3-Deforestation
Plants need carbon dioxide BUT the more trees are cut down, the less carbon dioxide can be absorbed, Moreover, deforestation contributes to increased fire risk because the reduction of tree cover and ground vegetation dries out forests.
-
Factor 5-Livestock
Livestock in the form of sheep, pigs and poultry play a significant role in climate change.
-
How greenhouse gases act
The Sun hits the planet. Some energy is absorbed at the surface of the Earth BUT the rest of that energy is reflected by the surface. When it gets to the atmosphere, the greenhouse gases trap the reflected energy and redirect it back down to the earth and eventually contributing to global warming.
Solutions
-
Reduce, reuse, repair and recycle
-
Get around by walking, cycling or using public transport
Climate change are long term-shifts of temperature and weather patterns in the planet Earth.
