6 Types of Thinking by Alexis Whitman
Remembering and Recalling.
Having to remember when my employees ask for days off so I can adjust the schedule accordingly.
Remembering our company lay-a-way program so I can tell it to customers.
Remembering the company's return policy so I can tell it to customers.
Understanding.
Having to read over and interpret planograms for a section in my store.
Creating a Card Deck for a game I play called Magic The Gathering. (This sounds corny but it does require a lot of thought as every card says something different and does different things.)
Having to read and understand the directions to set up my new home security system.
Applying.
Creating "inbound forms" for my company to help buy in product from the customers.
Securely fastening two 1-foot by 7-foot grids onto the wall for a new fixture.
Using the skills I've learned over the years to coach my team on new company policy.
Analyzing.
Using a stud finder to map out the wall to figure out exactly where studs and electrical components where for the statue wall.
Creating a shelving system in the stockroom to organize the new and used accessories for ease of access.
Creating a (wonderful) paperwork system to store my cash log, ticket verification, checks, deposits, and more. (I am very proud of this one.)
Evaluating.
Utilizing the Cash log to find discrepancies amongst cash paid out vs. in.
Performing store audits to fully sweep the store's finances and bookkeeping.
Filling out the proper paperwork for my In-School Deferment form for my banking institution.
Creating.
Setting up fixtures that are aesthetically pleasing to the consumer's eye.
Making advertisements for events and products at my job.
Making a presentation slideshow for the computers we have on sale so you can see their specifications and price.
