Relief
Sparsely populated: High and rugged mountains and worn-down, shield lands.
Densely populated: Flat plains and low-lying undulating areas, broad river valleys and foothills of active volcanoes.
Climate:
Sparsely populated: Limited annual rainfall, low annual temperatures, high annual humidity and unreliable seasonal rainfall.
Densely populated: Evenly distributed rainfall with no temperature extremes, high sunshine and heavy snowfall and seasonal monsoon rainfall

Densely populated:Government investment, new towns and reclamation of land
Sparsely populated: Lack of government investment, depopulation of rural and old industrial areas, lost of land , deforestation and soil erosion.

Densely populated: Better housing opportunities, education, health facilities, entertainment and retirement areas.
Sparsely populated: Poor housing opportunities, limited education, health, facilities, entertainment and poor facilities for retirement.
