It looks at the ways in which performers use their bodies, voices, and expressions to create meaning and emotion in a film. It also examines the ways in which a director or other filmmakers use performance to shape the narrative and aesthetic of a film.
Performance in film theory is closely related to other branches of film studies, such as cinematography, mise-en-scène, and editing.

Mise en Scene
Despites Wallace's' cutting edge technology throughout the house as part of their regimented routine and also the robotic trousers, Wallace still wears the same knitted green vest and red tie which gives him an old timely look to the character which reminds the audience that the short film is still set in early 20th century Lancashire which provides a sense of nostalgia for viewers.

The staging is important in the scene where gromit is leaving his house whilst feathers has moved in because when gromit is looking through the window before he leaves, he is looking up to a silhouette of wallace and feathers dining together showing that feathers has ultimately become gromits' placeholder, he makes gromit thin that he is better than gromit as he pushes a relationship so fondly with wallace right in front of gromits face shunning him out of his own room and eventually out of his own home.
