Types of Morphemes:
Free Morphemes:
Free morphemes are standalone words that can function independently as complete words with their own meaning. They are not bound to other morphemes.Examples: Words like "book," "run," "happy," "cat" are free morphemes because they can stand alone as complete words.
Bound Morphemes:
Bound morphemes are morphemes that cannot stand alone as independent words and must attach to other morphemes to convey meaning. They include prefixes, suffixes, and infixes.
Inflectional Morphemes:
Inflectional morphemes are a type of bound morpheme that primarily carry grammatical information. They can indicate tense, aspect, number, case, and more.
Derivational Morphemes:
Derivational morphemes are bound morphemes that are used to create new words or to change the meaning or part of speech of existing words.
