Advertise/Promote
Used to sell a product or service to viewers, readers or listeners. Advertising banners on websites are one example of using media to advertise.
Educate
Media is used to teach skills or new knowledge, e.g. an animation showing how to carry out a task.
Entertain
Media used to entertain, e.g. films, comics, games, podcasts
Inform
Similar to educate but media which informs can also be used to give instructions or information too, e.g. leaflets, maps.
Influence
Media can be used to influence people, such as encouraging people to follow a certain movement, or point of view, e.g. campaign posters, videos of interviews.
