Electoral College
each state receives a number of electors equal to the number of senators (2) + the number of representatives (based on state population); Electors = reps + senators (435+100=535+3 for D.C.) total 538; need a simple majority (270 electors)
If no one gets a majority, ties are broken by HoR via contingent election

Census: every ten years, a census is used to apportion the 435 seats in the house
Ideology
Liberal: far-left, individual liberties, want the system to change, progressive, revolutionary, democrats
Moderate: middle, like some on the left and right
Conservative: far right, stay the same, things were better before we did “this”, reactionary, republicans
