Fifth Amendment: can't be charged for the same crime twice, don't have to testify against yourself, due process
Sixth Amendment: speedy and public trial by an impartial jury, right to know your witnesses against you, right to a lawyer

Tenth Amendment: anything that is not delegated to the Constitution is reserved to the States, or to the people
Popular Sovereignty: authority for government flows from the people and they rule through representatives

Federalism: power is divided between the national and state governments, limiting central power

Checks and Balances: each of the three branches of government exercises some control over the others, sharing the power among them

Legislative

House of Representatives: Virginia Plan, representatives are proportional to a state's population, determined after a census
Senate: New Jersey Plan, equal representation, two senators per state, 100 senators total
Executive

President: must be 35 years old and a natural born citizen, four year term with max of two terms
Vice President: president picks the VP candidate when they are running for office, same requirements as president, next in line if something happens to the president

Supreme Court made up of NINE justices that are nominated by the president and approved by the Senate
