Functions of ICT systems
ICT is a broad subject and the concepts are evolving.
It covers any product that will store, retrieve, manipulate, transmit, or receive information electronically in a digital form
ICT incorporates electronic technologies and techniques used to manage information and knowledge, including information-handling tools used to produce, store, process, distribute and exchange information.
Components of ICT systems
Input Device, Output Device, Storage Device, Memory Device.
Hardware, Software, User, Network.
Hardware refers to the external and internal devices and equipment that enable you to perform major functions such as input, output, storage, communication, processing, and more.
Software is a generic term used to refer to applications, scripts and programs that run on a device.
System software, Operating system.
System software is software designed to provide a platform for other software.
Examples of system software include operating systems (OS) (like macOS, Linux, Android, and Microsoft Windows)
An operating system (OS) is the program that, after being initially loaded into the computer by a boot program, manages all of the other application programs in a computer.
Computer, Internet, LCD Projector.
ICT systems
An ICT system is a set-up consisting of hardware, software, data and the people who use them.
ICT and computers are not the same thing. Computers are the hardware that is often part of an ICT system.
