Classifications of plastics
Thermostable plastics
These plastics are made from compounds dertved from petroleum. They are formed by strongly-link chams runmng in different directions.
Elastomers
Made by vulcanisationi mixing sulphur and rubber, and heating you 160ºC. They are hard, resistant and very elastic stretching easily under
force.
Thermoplastics
We manufacture thermoplastics from compounds acquired from petroleum. They' re made up of weakly formed molecular chains. When we heat them, they become soft, which allows them to be formed into different shapes.
Tranformation of plastics
Natural plastics
Are obtained directly from raw vegetable materials
Synthetic plastics
Are mede for a compounds extracted from
petroleum, natural gas and carbon
They are used for marking containers and packaging
But we also use plastics in many economic and industrial sectors.
Polymers
Plastics are materials formed by polymers. The polymers in plastics are
made from long chains of carbon atoms.
Properties of plastics
The properties depend on their composition or on their type.
The plastics can be
Strength
Elasticity
Rigidity
Flexibtflt
