Students
Some SS dominate the work and don't allow others to engage in the project
Consequences: Those who do not engage in become upset and unwilling to continue the project with the same group
Reason: lack of exposure and training on collaboration skills
Solution: Teachers build a solid foundation through scaffolds
Lack of technology
Consequences: Hard to search for information and share with their classmates
Some SS work very fast
Consequences: SS tend to focus on the project rather learning from the process
Reason: SS are still exam-oriented and interested in gaining high marks
Teachers
Struggle in deciding topic or unit
Reason: Curriculum is not designed for PBL
Difficult in implementing PBL within the school schedule
Reason: Teachers have to complete certain topics in certain time
Reason: PBL takes more time than other methods
Pre-service teachers have a belief that SS would make too much noise
Consequences: Unable to make SS calm and regain their attention
Hard to give support and monitor a considerable number of SS
Lack of confidence and experience
Reason: Unable to assess the process of conducting project or the end products

Schools don't offer adequate materials and facilities for PBL
Reason: lack of financial resources and technology
School administrations prefer simpler teaching methods

Parents underestimate the value of PBL

Parents don't offer necessary materials for their kids
