Origin of coconut candy

Bến Tre coconut candy originates from Mỏ Cày district. According to collected documents, the first person to make the candy was Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, born in 1914, residing in Quarter 1, Mỏ Cày town.

Malt is filtered from the sugars of glutinous rice grains when they are fermented. To make delicious candy, choosing ingredients is very important.

The sticky rice used to brew malt must be good sticky rice with large, evenly ripened grains. To germinate, the rice must be watered with clean rain water and then boiled to get malt.
